Welcome to Chicago
Academy Elementary School!
We are a
CPS "contract" school, the first of its kind in the Chicago Public Schools,
District 299. Located in the former Wright Community College building, The
Chicago Academy opened its doors in September 2001 and currently enrolls 590
pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students.
School
begins on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Students will line up at 8:20
am, to be picked up by their teachers. Please be on time, as it sets the tone
for your child's entire day. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30 am. All
students arriving in the classroom after 8:30 will be marked tardy.
Free
breakfast is
available to all students from 8:00 am to 8:15 am. Students interested in eating
breakfast will line up inside, by the main entrance, and will be escorted up to
the cafeteria by a staff member. No students will be allowed up to breakfast
after 8:15 am. After breakfast, students must then return downstairs to line up
with their classes.
All students
will line up at 8:20 am outside on the blacktop (south of the playlot), where
the teachers will pick them up. If there is inclement weather, students will
line up inside along the first floor hallway, from 8:00 am to 8:20 am,
according to the room numbers posted on blue signs.
The
Chicago Public Schools 2010-2011 School Year Calendar is available. We are
a Regular Track school.
The
CPS District-Wide Parent Friendly Calendar of Important Dates for 2010-2011,
the glossy calendar that will be distributed to parents in the fall, is also
available on-line. Please follow the dates coded in
BLUE
for the Regular Track Calendar. Please note that the telephone
number listed in the Directory for Chicago Academy Elementary is incorrect. Our
