Welcome to the Chicago Academy Elementary School's website! We are excited about our school and have a lot of great things happening during this time of the year. March 4-12, 2008 ISAT testing is taking place this week and next. We need students to arrive on time. We urge parents to make sure their children get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast and get to school early. Testing time can be stressful so try to build in some stress-relieving activities at home. Also, remember to fill your child's emotional tank. Students that have a positive self-image tend to perform better than those that do not think highly of themselves. Ask yourself, how many compliments versus criticisms did I give my child in the last 24 or 48 hours? Our children need positive feedback to grow into confident and successful students. Do your part. Attendance Counts In an effort to improve attendance and reduce the number of tardies, TCA will initiate programs that will provide our students with a number of incentives for coming to school everyday and being on-time. We will have raffles and prizes for students that have excellent attendance. Our first raffle will be held on the first week of April. We will be raffling 50 pairs of Cubs tickets to the April 17th game! Research suggests that attendance is important. Students who are chronically absent or tardy lose significant instructional time that cannot be made up effectively. The bottom line is that students need to be in school on time in order to reap the maximum benefits of instruction. For those that have an excellent record, keep up the good work! Thanks for visiting our website and remember to return often for updates. Sincerely, Victor Iturralde Principal |
